PROGRAMS & HOUSING OFFERED BY KIHA

In October of 1996 Congress passed a new law titled "Native American Housing Assistance and Self- Determination Act (NAHASDA)." Under this new law, which became effective Oct. 1, 1997, KIHA, an Indian Housing Authority, is required to give preference in its Department of HUD funded programs to American Indians and Alaskan Natives (AI/AN). Non-AI/AN individuals and families are eligible to participate, but only after AI/AN applicants have been housed.

(KIHA has two rental complexes, Harborview and Cliffwood which do not receive HUD funding and are not subject to the AI/AN preference)
